Brome Squirrel Buster Classic Squirrel Proof Bird Feeder 1015

I bought the first one in June and besides something dragging it off the hook in the middle of the night (raccoon, probably), I have had no issues. Even with our resident squirrels (see pic) trying to break into it every day for a month. So after my other feeder, a different style with a cage around it, got infiltrated and damaged by a squirrel last week, I decided to come back and buy this feeder again!Of the two pictures I attached, one is a wide shot of my vegetable garden, where you can see this feeder on the right corner, and the old (now replaced) cage feeder on the left. They're fully accessible to all critters but that hasn't been a problem for us with this new feeder.I did notice that Grackles were able to land and feed, but they must have been migrating because I haven't seen them in weeks. Now I refill my feeders once a week and birds near and far are singing (chirping?) my praises.My one suggestion would be to make the feeder easier to really get in there and clean. I've yet to find the perfect brushes/tools for this but I'll keep trying to keep my feathered friends safe and healthy. :)

I wanted something to offer a peanut mixed food type to my birds. I have a Brome “peanut only” feeder as well, can’t really used mixed seed in that. So my yard was/is flooded with grackles, black birds, Starlings, etc. as well as squirrels! I added just few tiny magnet weights under the top cover to help keep those awful black birds out & it works! You can see the picture with those icky birds closes the gate, yet as you see in the other picture allows multiple smaller birds to enjoy without any weight closure issues! One more plus is the way the feeder ports are a bit recessed so that even in a light rain the seed doesn’t get wet as it sits back inside a bit. Feeder is a piece of cake to clean/fill as well.

I have had mine since 2022 (3 years) still looks good as new - if a squirrel hips on it the putter cage moves downward and blocks the feed holes. Unfortunately it’s not deer proof - deer come and use their tongues to have some bird seed, but that’s life. It’s one of the best bird feeders out there. Easy to disassemble and clean.

I’m not really a bird feeder guy. I bought this mostly on the recommendation of other Amazon reviewers. And the past, we’ve tried to feed the birds with a more traditional pan style feeder, but the squirrels made a feast of that. So far, the Squirrel Buster has surpassed my wildest expectations. There’s no question. Squirrels cannot eat from this feeder. It’s actually kind of cruel to the squirrels.I live in a house on the edge of a wooded area in the middle of Huston. I’ve been there for more than 10 years and while there were many birds around I never knew what to extent they existed until I put up this feeder. We get a lot of cardinals and blue jays and a lot of other spectacular birds. The quail are too heavy for the feeder but they tend to hang up underneath and still get their fill. It turns out some of the smaller birds all the like certain kinds of seeds so when they get to one that they don’t like they just toss them out and the quail finish it up.I’m really happy with the purchase.I’m not really a bird feeder guy. It works great at keeping the squirrels off. This one replaced my old one which was at least 10 years old. Good quality that lasts.
