I bought one of JCs flythru feeders last year and was impressed by it. The birds love it, so after trying a bird bath from Amazon that they hated, I figured I'd give JCs a shot. It's been great. Fairly easy set up, durable polywood construction that feels very solid. It's heavy but not so heavy you can't easily move it around your yard. Seems very unlikely to blow over in strong winds. It took a couple days, but after filling we've had plenty of bird visitors. The tray is easy to dump every morning to keep things fresh.
Seed logs work well when you aren't able to refill feeders daily. It absolutely must be hung in a place that squirrels can't access, however. This log is so tempting, squirrels will risk their lives for just one bite.
If the log is solely accessible by birds, it will last a while and be more cost-effective.
So far so good! Live up in the North woods of Wisconsin and I had many squirrels to fight off from my bird feeders. First time trying the squirrel stopper bird feed and (knock on wood) no squirrels just my feather friends!
