I love this Pinetree Farms Never Melt brand. They are made without any millet, which attracts house sparrows. Since we try to attract bluebirds, we don't want anything that would attract these predators sparrows. While they say they are never melt, they do get soft in the hot weather and do get some mold on them if they are not eaten quickly, but not as much as other brands. We attract many varieties of birds to our yard and they all favor this brand. The only downside, is that they are getting harder and harder to find!!
The title says it all. I don't buy this for me, I buy it for the birds, and since we've been undergoing this cold spell in Maine, the birds have been absolutely ravenous! I am putting up a new cake every 3-4 days. I've actually tried to "buy local" a couple of times in the past few months, but I have seen a very different reaction from the birds on my feeders to the locally bought food. As much as I hate the carbon cost of shipping, it doesn't make any sense if the customer prefers something else.
Very good, I will purchase again.
