JCS Wildlife Ultimate Squirrel House Nesting Box

Heavy duty construction and the squirrels love these houses. Thinking they will hold up for a very long time.

This is nicely built squirrel house. Larger and heavier than I expected. It should last a very long time.

I received this item as a gift back in September. In February we had a tropical storm come through and I found two baby squirrels in my front yard along with the nest. The nearest set of trees were at least 100' away and they were likely only a day old as the one that was still alive only weighed 23 grams. and was the size of my thumb. I've rehabbed squirrels in the past so I was able to raise him with hopes of releasing him back into the wild. He's now almost 10 months old and for the past few months I would take him outside to let him climb the trees and learn to dig. He even made several attempts at nests (not very good ones) but he still would never want me out of his sight, even though he's a healthy large adult now. I had the squirrel house installed in my office where he spent a lot of time each day as well and I would give him boxes of tissues so he could fill up the box in his quest for the ultimate house. The squirrel freaked out and ran into the woods. My place is surrounded with acres and acres of woods and unfortunately, predators. There's way more hawks, coyotes, stray cats and dogs, and plenty of other creatures who would kill a squirrel in a heartbeat. He was gone. I walked at least 1000’ in every direction calling for him (he comes when I call him). After several days I mounted his squirrel house on one of the trees near where he ran off along with his cage and a camera which would notify me if an animal came around. On day six I saw a squirrel in the photos but when I got out there was only a very weak animal way up about 40’ in one of the trees. He didn’t move and I tried all day to talk him down. He was just too traumatized and too weak from lack of food and water. By nightfall he was gone.Before I went to bed I decided to check the Squirrel House one last time. I opened the door and there was a cold ball of fur nestled among the tissues. I described him has picking up a small bag of wet sand as he didn’t move and was cold but I could tell he was not dead. When I was almost up to the house he started shivering and once he was able to drink and eat he slowly regained his strength and currently is at about 75% of his previous strength. On the downside I fear this fella may never make it in the wild. I plan on trying again this spring but if it were not for this squirrel house that he loved as his home he would never had been able to survive another cold November night out there. This house saved his life.I want to get another one for the wild squirrels outside but the one in the video is back in the house for now… as is the squirrel. We’ve already gone through several boxes of tissues as he just started filling it back up again. A happy ending for a great product. Thank you for making this.
