JCS Wildlife Plywood Squirrel House Nesting Box

This is a great pattern. Babies stay safer, however, squirrels are hesitant to go inside, as it's slippery to go from top to porch. Needs a perch or a better track to the entrance. They sit on top to rest or eat peanuts. They nearly slip getting to the porch. I'm going to add some perch or a little ladder. You'll have to weather stain it as it's raw food. For the price, that was disappointing. I put some lambs wool inside and feel it will be ready for winter once I provide easier access. But don't get me wrong, it's quality. It just needs additions. Has good aeration.

This is a great squirrel house! It could stand to be bigger at its entry point, it is made for 1 squirrel. I have 2 infant squirrels that I raised from babies that got stuck in my husband's bucket truck. They have to take turns trying to get in and out and the little male squirrel fell out and really hurt his front leg. Back in the house to mend. Great concept, but the entry needs more room for them to come and go. I realize it's to deter predators, but if they cannot get in when needed, it kind of defeats the purpose. All in all, the great house and the size of the rest are perfect. Just for future reference, possibly a larger place to enter and/or a rear entry along with the side entry would help. Momma squirrels have up to 5 babies, I cannot imagine getting that many in there! These are 3 months old and momma squirrel took 1 of her 3 babies; I had to raise her other 2 babies that she did not come back for. She still has her baby in her nest. I'm watching to see when to let these babies go. This is not a negative review! Just a suggestion. Also, due to having to open the house and clean often, a wing nut would be amazing to utilize to open the front door!! Thank you for this great craftsmanship! I love, love, love this house.

this is a nicely crafted home for squirrels. Our rehabbed adolescent squirrel was wary at first. He was still using an indoor cage so we put nuts and snack in it and let him explore at his will while still in the house. Once we moved him to his outdoor transition cage, he went right away to the more familiar box. He sleeps in it at night, which was our goal!Very sturdy. Easy to open & clean.

This squirrel house has beautiful craftsmanship. It is very sturdy, high quality, and the details are eye catching. The porch is a great feature to protect them from predators which was a must have for me. Lot of hawks in my area. The inside has lots of room for the squirrels to nest and get cozy, and the mounting hardware is very secure. It is easy to open and clean and the directions for mounting are easy to follow and install. I looked at several options and felt this was the best quality at a reasonable price.

I bought this for the wife and installed in a tree i had to climb up.Its a great view from front window just waiting for someone to move in i will be purchasing more for the back yard great construction and quality work thanks JC
