Welcome your feathered friends with the JCs Wildlife Cedar Wood Duck House! This cedar duck house is designed to be mounted on a pole in the water or at the water's edge in wetland areas for wood ducks as well as other cavity-nesting birds like kestrels, tree swallows, and great crested flycatchers. With a built in poly lumber predator guard, a 4" oval entrance hole, and a slanted overhanging poly lumber roof, this house is designed to safely and comfortably house wood ducks. The wood ducks living in this house will also stay safe from the elements as well as safe from predators like snakes or raccoons.
The JCs Wildlife Wood Duck House is great for raising ducks and is designed as one room, with 1" kerfs, or slots, inside to help ducklings climb out of the house and fly to water when they are ready. There are no grip grooves or perches outside the house in order to protect the ducks from outside predators.
A door on the side of the house allows for easy access to the interior - making clean out a simple and quick task. Simply open the clean out door and replace the nesting material inside when performing annual maintenance. This Wood Duck House also comes with pre-drilled drainage holes so that the house stays cleaner and safer for the nesting ducks.
Nesting Material: Since Wood Ducks will not find their own nesting materials, your Wood Duck House will include two bags of pine shavings. Adding 4-6" of shavings to the floor when mounting will make the house more appealing to the Wood Ducks. If you need to replace the nesting material, pine shavings are the safest option.
The JCs Wildlife Cedar Wood Duck House with Poly Lumber Roof comes fully assembled and ready for installation. This house comes with pre-drilled pilot holes for mounting on the floor of the house, along with larger holes drilled to help with drainage to keep the house cleaner and safer.
The cedar and eco-friendly recycled poly lumber construction of this Wood Duck House is naturally resistant to weather and insects, therefore no external treatment should be applied to the house.
**No paint or varnish should be applied to this house, internally or externally, as it could be poisonous to the ducks.**
Where Should I Mount My House? Wood Ducks nest near woodland wetlands with water year-round (or at least during summer months). This house must be pole-mounted 4-5 feet above land or water, either at the shoreline or in the water with a hooded baffle added to the pole to protect the ducks from snakes. We suggest mounting this Wood Duck House with the Squirrel Stopper Universal Pole Kit.

Box is built well and even included wood shavings. JCs Wildlife provides written guidelines for mounting. I had a couple additional questions and reached out. They were quick to respond and provided a great level of detail for me. Pic is mine installed, still need to add a predator guard. Thanks JCs Wildlife!

I am pleased with the quality of the nesting box. Only thing I'd add would be a brass ball cabinet latch for "turn button latch that secures the access door (see pic of this mod). The board extends back and is secured to the top of a 4x4 pressure treated post that is cut at an angle so the box is both level and over the water in our pond. I'll be using a 5" rigid dryer duct to "raccoon proof" the post.

I don't usually write reviews and I have never seen a wood duck house, but I am impressed with the quality of this one. It arrived on time and is exactly as advertised.
