Well built owl nesting box. Because I wasn’t interested in applying a new coat of linseed oil every year, I chose to paint the box with light grey acrylic paint (two coats on sides and bottom, three coats on top). After researching placing nails/screws in trees, I decided to use three ratchet straps to attach the box to the tree, with horizontal router gap on the three black mounting pieces (where the line of **** holes are located) to accommodate the width of the ratchet straps. If I ever have to replace the three black mounting pieces, I’ll use two vertical treated 2x4s to attach to the box, then use a ratchet strap above and below the box to attach to the tree. Can’t wait for a new feathered friend to reside in its new house.
As advertised, the birds love it and the squirrels do not!
excellent quality, they look great and the wren uses them each year. Somehow I lost the 3rd one and needed to replace it because the wren will make 3 separate bird nests in hope one will be enticed by the female to nest. She always uses one each year.
I love these dried wood pieces. They light quickly with no struggle. They start my firewood quickly. I use old newspaper, box and fire sticks to create a great firewood starter. They run out to quickly so order early.-
Awesome product, very sturdy. Easy to install and works. No squirrels.
