The squires, raccoons, and other rodents do not like to eat this bird seed. Hence, it lasts longer and is enjoyed by many different birds (e.g., woodpeckers, cardinals).

Mr. Bird's Flaming Hot Feast as a rule works most of the time. Squirrels don't bother it to much early in the season, but when food gets scarce, that's when things change. All the sudden they get a taste for hot pepper sauce! And they seem to like it as they don't leave it alone. Truthfully there's not allot you can do. I've tried domes, different ways to hang the feeders, they still get to it. Mother Nature at its best. Just check out some of the YouTube videos from the guys that have worked every angle to try to stop them! It's amazing how good a squirrel is and how determined that they are! But after all, what else do they have to do?
For the most part the birds do still get food, the squirrels don't eat everything so the ground is littered with left overs. It is what it is!

We got the blocks because the cylinders were out of stock. They’re a struggle to get in the feeder, but the birds love them just as much as the cylinders, and the squirrels stay away. We were very glad when the cylinders were back!
