A Pileated woodpecker and offspring found my feeders and I felt bad for them all cramped up on the smaller suet feeder. This taller one is perfect, offering better support, plus the smaller species have no trouble using it either.
This is the second baffle of this type I’ve purchased. The first one was bought from the Canadian site & cost $69.00 CAD.
The second baffle cost considerable more since I was forced to purchase it from US. It was no longer available at Canadian site so I had to pay tariff fee, monetary exchange difference, & shipping cost- ouch! I really wanted a second baffle knowing how effective it is at preventing squirrels, chipmunks & raccoons from accessing the bird seed.
The baffle is very well made consisting of high grade metal (steel?) & high grade baked on paint to resist a harsh climate, fading, & chipping & support longevity & aesthetics in one’s garden! Now all the bird seed I buy is eaten exclusively by birds, as intended. I highly recommend this item.
There was one incident where a squirrel made his way up the pole, through the bottom & top hole of the baffle however, my husband plugged the hole with wire mesh & no further incidents!
It is very effective at keeping squirrels, chipmunks & raccoons away from bird seed .
